There are 11 EPCOT countries in World Showcase: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada. They circle World Showcase Lagoon in a walkable loop, and the main thing most visitors want to know is the order, what is in each pavilion, where to eat, and how to plan the loop without wasting time.
EPCOT’s World Showcase is less about rushing from ride to ride and more about exploring food, shops, architecture, entertainment, and small details from each country pavilion. I like to treat it like a slow lap around the lagoon, especially in the afternoon and evening when the area has more energy.
If you are planning the whole park, my broader guide to EPCOT is a helpful starting point before narrowing your day around World Showcase.
EPCOT Countries in Order Around World Showcase
The EPCOT countries are arranged around World Showcase Lagoon. If you enter from the front of the park and turn left, the classic clockwise route starts in Mexico. If you turn right, you start in Canada.
Here are the 11 EPCOT countries in clockwise order:
- Mexico
- Norway
- China
- Germany
- Italy
- The American Adventure
- Japan
- Morocco
- France
- United Kingdom
- Canada
I usually prefer starting in Mexico because the pyramid is such a strong visual entrance into World Showcase, and the indoor pavilion gives you an immediate break from the heat. Starting in Canada can also work well if you want a quieter beginning or want to reach France earlier.
EPCOT Countries Map: How the World Showcase Loop Works
You do not need a complicated map to understand the layout. World Showcase is basically a large circle around the lagoon, with Mexico on one front side and Canada on the other.
A simple way to picture the EPCOT countries map:
- Left side of the lagoon: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy
- Back of the lagoon: The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco
- Right side of the lagoon: France, United Kingdom, Canada
The loop can feel longer than it looks, especially in the heat or during festivals. If you want a better sense of the walking involved, my guide to how many miles EPCOT is explains why the park can feel so spread out.
My biggest map tip is simple: pick a direction and stick with it. World Showcase is much easier when you avoid backtracking across the lagoon unless you have a dining reservation, showtime, or ride return window.
Quick Guide to Each EPCOT Country
Each pavilion has a different purpose. Some are best for rides, some are best for food, and some are best for wandering slowly and noticing the details.
Mexico
Mexico has the large pyramid, an indoor marketplace, Gran Fiesta Tour, tequila, margaritas, and several dining options. It is one of the best first stops because it is lively, shaded, and easy to explore quickly.
Best for: Gran Fiesta Tour, margaritas, indoor shopping, and a strong start to World Showcase.
If Mexican food is high on your list, my guide to the EPCOT Mexican restaurant can help you compare options.
Norway
Norway is popular because of Frozen Ever After. It also has a bakery, shops, and a small village-style layout that works well for families.
Best for: Frozen Ever After, school bread, princess dining nearby, and younger kids.
China
China is a good pavilion to slow down in. The architecture, gardens, shops, and film make it feel calmer than some of the busier food-heavy areas.
Best for: architecture, gardens, shopping, and a quieter break.
Germany
Germany feels like a festive village with a central plaza, shops, beer, pretzels, caramel treats, and Biergarten Restaurant. It is especially fun during EPCOT festivals.
Best for: Biergarten, beer, pretzels, caramel treats, and festival atmosphere.
Italy
Italy is more dining-focused than attraction-focused. It has a spacious plaza, pretty architecture, wine, and table-service restaurants.
Best for: Italian dining, wine, architecture, and photos.
The American Adventure
The American Adventure sits near the back center of World Showcase. It has a large indoor show, entertainment, seating areas, and a useful midpoint break.
Best for: indoor rest time, live entertainment, and a natural halfway point around the lagoon.
Japan
Japan is one of the best pavilions for atmosphere and shopping. The gardens, koi ponds, torii gate, and Mitsukoshi store make it worth more than a quick pass-through.
Best for: shopping, gardens, sushi, teppanyaki, and scenic lagoon views.
Morocco
Morocco is one of the easiest pavilions to underrate because the best details are deeper inside. Walk past the front edge and you will find tilework, courtyards, and quieter corners.
Best for: architecture, tilework, photos, and peaceful exploring.
France
France is one of the busiest EPCOT countries because it has Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, bakeries, restaurants, films, and a beautiful expanded area.
Best for: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, pastries, French dining, and evening atmosphere.
If Remy is a priority, my guide on how to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure can help you plan around the wait.
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom pavilion has shops, gardens, Rose & Crown Pub, and a cozy village feel. It is not ride-focused, but it is a nice place to wander.
Best for: pub atmosphere, gardens, shopping, and character sightings.
Canada
Canada has rockwork, waterfalls, gardens, Le Cellier Steakhouse, and Canada Far and Wide. Do not just pass it from the main walkway. The upper paths and garden areas are part of the appeal.
Best for: Le Cellier, waterfalls, gardens, and a scenic beginning or end to the loop.
Best EPCOT Countries for Food
Food is one of the biggest reasons people spend time in World Showcase. You can do a full meal, snack around the lagoon, or mix festival booth items with pavilion restaurants.
The best EPCOT countries for food are usually:
- France for pastries, desserts, and French dining
- Mexico for margaritas, tacos, and indoor atmosphere
- Japan for sushi, teppanyaki, and snacks
- Germany for Biergarten, pretzels, caramel, and beer
- Italy for table-service meals and wine
- Canada for Le Cellier Steakhouse
If food is the main focus of your EPCOT day, my list of all the restaurants at EPCOT is useful for comparing everything in one place. For faster meals, the best quick service restaurants in EPCOT can help you avoid choosing only when everyone is already hungry.
Best EPCOT Countries for Rides and Attractions
World Showcase is not the ride-heavy part of EPCOT, but a few countries have important attractions.
The main ride and attraction pavilions are:
- Mexico: Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros
- Norway: Frozen Ever After
- China: Reflections of China
- The American Adventure: The American Adventure show
- France: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Impressions de France, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along
- Canada: Canada Far and Wide

Best EPCOT Countries for Kids and Adults
For kids, the strongest pavilions are usually Mexico, Norway, France, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Mexico has a gentle boat ride, Norway has Frozen Ever After, France has Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Japan has fun shopping, and the United Kingdom often has characters and gardens to explore.
For adults, World Showcase is one of the best parts of EPCOT. Mexico, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada all work well for a slower day of food, drinks, shopping, and atmosphere.
If you are planning with younger children, my guide to EPCOT for toddlers gives a more realistic look at what is worth doing. For an adults-focused trip, my EPCOT itinerary for adults is a better fit.
EPCOT Countries During Festivals
The EPCOT countries feel different during festivals because food booths, entertainment, decorations, and crowds change the rhythm of the loop. During the bigger festivals, World Showcase becomes more of a tasting trail.
My advice is to go earlier in the day if you want lighter crowds and better photos. Weekend evenings can feel packed, especially around popular booths and drink-heavy areas.
For timing, check the EPCOT festival calendar before your trip. If you are visiting in fall, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival can shape your whole World Showcase plan.
Tips for Visiting All 11 EPCOT Countries
Seeing all 11 EPCOT countries in one day is easy. Actually enjoying them takes a better pace. The biggest mistake is treating the loop like a checklist and rushing past the details that make each pavilion interesting.
Here are my best tips:
- Start earlier if you want lower crowds
- Pick Mexico or Canada and move in one direction
- Walk deeper into pavilions like Morocco, Japan, China, Canada, and the United Kingdom
- Use indoor areas for heat breaks
- Plan Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ahead of time
- Share snacks so you can try more food around the lagoon
- Avoid booking a heavy meal if you want to eat from festival booths
- Check entertainment times before you pass each pavilion
It also helps to check what time EPCOT opens and current EPCOT hours so you know how much time you actually have.
Should You Start in Mexico or Canada?
Start in Mexico if you want the classic clockwise World Showcase route, an energetic first stop, and easy access to Gran Fiesta Tour, margaritas, and the indoor pavilion.
Start in Canada if you want a quieter beginning, want to reach France earlier, or are entering EPCOT from the International Gateway area near the Disney Skyliner and BoardWalk resorts.
There is no wrong answer. I usually start in Mexico on a first visit because it feels like the more iconic beginning, but Canada is better when I want a calmer start.
Are the EPCOT Countries Worth a Full Day?
The EPCOT countries are worth a full day if you enjoy food, drinks, festivals, shopping, entertainment, and slow exploring. If you mainly care about rides, you may only need part of the day for World Showcase.
My ideal EPCOT plan is to do bigger rides earlier, then spend the afternoon and evening moving around the countries. That gives you the best mix of attractions, food, and atmosphere without feeling rushed.
For a complete plan, my one day EPCOT itinerary can help you combine World Showcase with the rest of the park. For a shorter visit, my half day EPCOT itinerary is more realistic.
