Key Points

  • Mystic Manor is a must-do and one of the best Disney rides anywhere in the world.
  • Download the HK Disneyland app ahead of time to manage wait times and plan your day.
  • Skip a few of the cloned attractions if you've done them at other parks—focus on what’s unique to Hong Kong.

My Highly Recommended List of All the Rides at Hong Kong Disneyland

This is based on my personal visits, what I re-ride every time, and what I’ve skipped after one try.

Mystic Manor (Mystic Point)

Mystic Manor

This is the ride to prioritize. It's Hong Kong Disneyland's answer to Haunted Mansion, but with a totally different tone and one of the most advanced trackless systems I've ever experienced. The storyline, the music, the effects—pure Disney magic. I’d go so far as to say this is one of the top five Disney rides worldwide.

Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars (Grizzly Gulch)

Grizzly Gulch
Grizzly Gulch

Think of this as a mashup of Big Thunder Mountain and Expedition Everest. It has backward sections, surprise launches, and just enough thrill to make it exciting without being too intense for families. The theming here is super detailed, and I love the story elements.

Iron Man Experience (Tomorrowland)

This is basically a Marvel-themed version of Star Tours. It’s fun, especially if you’re a Marvel fan, but the ride system isn’t anything groundbreaking. Worth doing once, especially since it’s unique to Hong Kong, but I don’t prioritize it on return visits.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! (Tomorrowland)

A cool interactive shooter ride similar to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters but with a Marvel twist. The visuals are slick, and the blaster feels more responsive than other rides of its kind. I recommend riding it once, especially for kids or Marvel fans.

Hyperspace Mountain (Tomorrowland)

This is Space Mountain with a Star Wars overlay. It’s fast, loud, and in the dark. It’s not quite as intense as some versions of Space Mountain in the United States, but it’s still a top-tier thrill ride at this park.

It’s a Small World (Fantasyland)

This version of the classic ride includes Disney characters woven into the different countries, which is a nice touch. It’s a great midday cool-down ride, and I like the balance of nostalgia and creativity here.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Fantasyland)

If you’ve been to the U.S. parks, this will feel very familiar. It’s well done but doesn’t bring anything new to the table. I usually only ride it if I’m with someone who hasn’t experienced it before.

RC Racer & Toy Soldier Parachute Drop (Toy Story Land)

These are more carnival-style rides. RC Racer is a short but fun thrill ride (like a giant swing), while the Parachute Drop is more scenic and gentle. They’re fun but not essential unless you’re a Toy Story die-hard.

Rides I Usually Skip

If you’re short on time or have already visited other Disney parks, these are the rides I tend to skip at Hong Kong Disneyland:

  • Orbitron – It’s like Astro Orbiter, which is fine, but there are better uses of your time. The view is decent, but I always feel like I'm just circling for the sake of it. I rode it once for the photo op and haven’t been back since.
  • Mad Hatter Tea Cups – A classic, but pretty much the same everywhere. It’s fun for kids and nostalgia, but unless I’m with someone experiencing it for the first time, I tend to skip it. It also feels a little tucked away and easy to forget.
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant – Another clone that looks identical to the versions in the U.S. parks. It’s sweet and whimsical, and I totally get the appeal for families, but if you’ve done it before, it’s not a great use of time unless it’s a walk-on.
  • Fairy Tale Forest – Cute and detailed, but more of a walk-through photo area than a ride. I did enjoy the tiny dioramas and the Tangled tower, but it’s something I’d only recommend if you’re looking for a slower-paced moment or want some quiet photo spots.
  • Cinderella Carousel – Beautiful, but again, it's a carousel. The horses are lovely, and the backdrop is picturesque, but it’s not something I’d go out of my way to ride unless I’m with kids or killing time between shows.
