To upgrade a Disneyland ticket to Park Hopper online, open the Disneyland app, go to My Tickets & Passes, choose your eligible ticket and select Change Ticket. From there, you can change the ticket type to Park Hopper and pay the difference in price.
You can also modify eligible tickets through your MyDisney account on the Disneyland website. And contrary to some older Disneyland advice, you do not necessarily have to make the change before using the ticket. An eligible partially used ticket can generally still be upgraded while it remains valid.
The important catch with multi-day tickets is that you cannot add Park Hopper to only one of the days. If you upgrade a 3-day ticket, for example, you’re upgrading the entire 3-day ticket and paying the full difference between the original ticket and the Park Hopper version.
How to Upgrade a Disneyland Ticket to Park Hopper Online
The Disneyland app is the first place I would try. Make sure your ticket is linked to the same MyDisney account you’re using in the app.
- Open the Disneyland app and sign in.
- Tap the menu icon in the bottom-right corner.
- Select My Tickets & Passes.
- Find the Disneyland ticket you want to upgrade.
- Tap Change Ticket if that option appears.
- Select the ticket or tickets you want to modify and continue.
- Choose the option to change the ticket type.
- Select Park Hopper.
- Review the new ticket price and pay the difference.
After the transaction is complete, go back to My Tickets & Passes and confirm that the ticket now identifies itself as a Park Hopper ticket.
Can You Add Park Hopper After You Buy Disneyland Tickets?
Yes. You can add Park Hopper after purchasing a Disneyland ticket as long as the ticket is eligible for the upgrade and Park Hopper is available.
You don’t have to decide when you make the original ticket purchase.
This can be useful if you originally bought a 1 Park Per Day ticket and later decide you’d rather have the flexibility to move between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure on the same day.
I would still check the upgrade price before waiting. Adding Park Hopper later doesn’t give you a special discounted upgrade. You’re generally paying the difference between what you paid for your eligible ticket and the current price of the ticket you’re upgrading to.
Can You Upgrade After You’ve Already Used the Ticket?
In many cases, yes.
An eligible Disneyland ticket does not automatically become impossible to upgrade just because you’ve already entered a park.
A partially used multi-day ticket can generally still be upgraded while it remains valid. Standard multi-day Disneyland tickets normally expire 13 days after their first use or on the printed expiration date, whichever comes first.
If you’re already at Disneyland and the Change Ticket option appears in your app, you can try making the upgrade there. If it doesn’t appear, a Disneyland ticket booth or Cast Member can help determine whether your ticket can still be modified.
Can You Add Park Hopper on the Day of Your Visit?
Yes, an eligible ticket can potentially be upgraded to Park Hopper on the day you’re visiting.
That includes situations where you start the morning with a 1 Park Per Day ticket and decide later that you’d like to visit the other park.
I would check the Disneyland app first. If the ticket can’t be modified there, visit a Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth.
Park Hopper access is subject to Disney’s current rules and availability. Disneyland currently allows hopping beginning at 11:00 AM, so upgrading late in the day also means you’ll have fewer hours left to actually use the benefit.
How Much Does It Cost to Upgrade to Park Hopper?
The exact upgrade price depends on the ticket you already have and the current price of the corresponding Park Hopper ticket.
For standard multi-day tickets, Disney’s current adult prices show these differences:

One-day tickets work differently because Disneyland uses date-based pricing tiers, so the amount needed to upgrade a 1-day ticket can depend on the date and ticket you originally purchased.

You Can’t Add Park Hopper to Just One Day of a Multi-Day Ticket
This is probably the most important thing to know before waiting until the end of a multi-day trip to upgrade.
If you have a 3-day 1 Park Per Day ticket, you cannot pay to make only Day 3 a Park Hopper day. The Park Hopper upgrade applies to the whole 3-day ticket.
That also means waiting until your final day doesn’t make the upgrade proportionally cheaper.
For example, the current adult difference between a standard 3-day 1 Park Per Day ticket and a 3-day Park Hopper is $110. If you’ve already used the first two days and upgrade on Day 3, you don’t simply pay one-third of the Park Hopper difference.
If I knew before the trip that I’d want to hop at some point, I’d generally upgrade earlier so I could actually use the benefit across more of the ticket.
What If the Change Ticket Option Doesn’t Appear?
Not every Disneyland ticket can be modified through the app.
If you open My Tickets & Passes and don’t see Change Ticket, I wouldn’t assume the ticket can’t be upgraded at all. It may simply require help from Disney.
This can be particularly relevant for promotional tickets, package tickets and tickets purchased through third-party programs.
Your options are to contact Disneyland ticket support before the trip or visit a Main Entrance Ticket Booth once you arrive.
If you purchased through another seller, I would also check the terms attached to that specific ticket rather than assuming every reseller ticket follows the same rules.
Check Your Park Reservation After the Upgrade
After changing the ticket, I would confirm that your theme park reservation is still showing correctly in your account.
A Park Hopper ticket still requires a valid theme park reservation for the date you’re visiting. Your reservation identifies the park where you’ll begin the day before Park Hopper access becomes available.
If your reservation doesn’t appear after modifying the ticket, check Disney’s reservation availability and make a new reservation before assuming you’re ready to visit.
You can manage reservations through Disney’s Disneyland theme park reservation system.
Should You Upgrade or Keep 1 Park Per Day?
I wouldn’t add Park Hopper just because the option is available.
On a three-day ticket, for example, the current $110 upgrade gives you the ability to switch parks on all three days. That’s useful if you want to change parks for dining, nighttime entertainment, Lightning Lane plans or simply because you’d rather not commit to one park all day.
But if you’re perfectly happy spending one full day in Disney California Adventure and the other days in Disneyland Park, keeping the 1 Park Per Day ticket saves the money.

The Fastest Way to Add Park Hopper
If your Disneyland ticket is already linked to your MyDisney account, I would start in the Disneyland app under My Tickets & Passes. Look for Change Ticket, select Park Hopper and review the price difference before paying.
If that option isn’t there, don’t immediately buy a second ticket. Contact Disneyland or visit a ticket booth and have Disney check whether your existing admission can be upgraded.
And if you have a multi-day ticket, remember that adding Park Hopper upgrades the entire ticket, not a single remaining day. That’s the detail I would consider most carefully before deciding when to upgrade.
