Can You Bring a Vape Into Disneyland?

You cannot vape inside Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, the Esplanade between the parks or Downtown Disney. Nicotine vape pens are not specifically named on Disneyland’s prohibited-items list, but all belongings are subject to security screening and Disney may refuse any item. If a device is permitted through security, it must remain unused inside the resort’s smoke-free areas.

The important distinction is that bringing a vape and using a vape are two different issues. You might be permitted to carry a nicotine vaping device through security, but that does not give you permission to use it inside the parks or Downtown Disney.

If you do not want to carry a device all day that you cannot use, the simplest option is to leave it in your hotel room or vehicle.

Are Vapes Allowed in Disneyland?

Vaping is not allowed inside Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure. The rule applies to disposable vapes, refillable vape pens, e-cigarettes and other products that create smoke or vapor.

The ban also applies in outdoor areas inside the parks. You cannot vape in an attraction queue, restroom, stroller area, restaurant patio or quiet corner of the park.

Disneyland’s official rules state that e-cigarettes and other products that produce smoke or vapor may be used only in designated outdoor smoking areas. The rules and available locations can change, so review Disney’s official Disneyland Resort rules before your visit.

My broader guide to the Disneyland smoking policy covers traditional cigarettes, cigars, hotel restrictions and smoking areas in more detail.

Can You Bring a Vape Into Disneyland?

Disneyland’s published prohibited-items list does not specifically name ordinary nicotine vape pens or disposable nicotine vapes. However, that does not guarantee that your device will be permitted through security.

Disney reserves the right to:

  • Screen guests, bags, clothing and other personal belongings
  • Inspect an item during the security process
  • Refuse an item that Disney considers harmful or disruptive
  • Deny admission or remove guests who do not follow resort rules

A security Cast Member may permit the device, inspect it further or require you to return it to your vehicle or hotel. Do not rely on another visitor’s experience as a guarantee that your device will be allowed.

My Disneyland bag policy explains the screening process, while the Disneyland prohibited-items list covers belongings that are clearly banned from the resort.

Can You Bring a Vape Into Downtown Disney?

Downtown Disney is part of the Disneyland Resort’s smoke-free area. You cannot vape while walking through the district, sitting at an outdoor table or waiting near a restaurant or store.

A nicotine vape is still subject to Disney’s security screening and discretion. Carrying the device through Downtown Disney does not make using it there acceptable.

The Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is also smoke-free. You need to leave these areas and locate a permitted designated outdoor smoking location before using a vape.

Where Can You Vape Near Disneyland?

Vaping is permitted only in designated outdoor smoking areas outside Disneyland’s smoke-free locations.

There are no smoking or vaping areas inside:

  • Disneyland Park
  • Disney California Adventure
  • The Esplanade between the parks
  • Downtown Disney
  • Disneyland Resort hotel rooms, patios or balconies

Disney does not currently publish a detailed online map showing every designated smoking location. Ask a Cast Member for the nearest permitted area before leaving the park or security perimeter.

Allow enough time for the walk and return trip. Depending on where you exit, you may need to pass through security again before re-entering the resort area.

Can You Leave Disneyland to Vape and Come Back?

Disneyland tickets generally allow same-day re-entry as long as your admission remains valid and the park is admitting guests.

You will need to scan your ticket again and may need to repeat security screening. Keep your admission linked in the Disneyland app and leave enough time to return before a dining reservation, show or Lightning Lane return window.

I would not leave for a vaping break immediately before something time-sensitive. The walk and security line may take longer than expected.

Disposable, Cannabis and Other Vape Products

Disposable Nicotine Vapes

Disposable nicotine vapes follow the same usage rules as refillable vape pens. You cannot use them inside Disneyland, California Adventure, the Esplanade or Downtown Disney.

The fact that a device is small, sealed or disposable does not guarantee that security will permit it through the checkpoint.

Cannabis and Marijuana Vapes

Disneyland prohibits marijuana, marijuana-enriched products and illegal substances on resort property. Do not bring a THC cartridge, cannabis vape pen or another marijuana product to the Disneyland Resort.

California law does not require Disneyland to permit cannabis on its private property.

Nicotine Pouches

Disneyland’s public prohibited-items list does not specifically address ordinary legal nicotine pouches. Because they do not produce smoke or vapor, the vaping restriction does not apply in the same way.

All personal belongings still remain subject to Disney’s security screening and discretion.

What Happens if You Vape Inside Disneyland?

A Cast Member may instruct you to stop, direct you to leave the smoke-free area or require you to leave the Disneyland Resort.

Disney reserves the right to deny entry or remove guests without a refund when they fail to comply with resort rules. Attempting to vape discreetly in a restroom, queue or less crowded outdoor area is still a violation.

You should also avoid trying to conceal a device or bypass security. Follow the instructions you receive if a Cast Member asks about the item.

Vaping at a Disneyland Resort Hotel

Vaping is not permitted in Disneyland Resort hotel rooms or on guest-room patios and balconies.

Disney may charge a room-recovery fee of $250 to $500 for smoking in a guest room, patio or balcony. Ask the front desk where the nearest current designated outdoor smoking area is located rather than assuming that any outdoor walkway or parking area is permitted.

Before You Visit

  • Consider leaving the device behind: You cannot use it inside the parks, and security may refuse it.
  • Ask for the current smoking location: Do not rely on an old map or online forum post.
  • Allow time for re-entry: Leaving the smoke-free area may require another security screening.
  • Do not vape in queues or restrooms: These areas are covered by the same prohibition.
  • Keep your ticket available: Valid admission is required when returning to a theme park.
  • Review the rules shortly before traveling: Disneyland policies are subject to change.
