Shanghai Disneyland Hotel has an indoor swimming pool called King Triton Pool. Shanghai Disney currently lists it as an all-ages indoor pool, making it one of the biggest recreation advantages of staying at the more expensive of the resort’s two open Disney hotels.
I used the pool during my stay at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and found it much calmer than the theme park itself. It is not a water park-style pool packed with slides. It feels more like a quiet hotel amenity where families can swim and adults can decompress after spending all day walking around Shanghai Disneyland.
If a pool matters when choosing between the Disney hotels, this is important: Toy Story Hotel does not currently list a traditional swimming pool among its hotel recreation.
What is King Triton Pool?
King Triton Pool is the indoor swimming pool at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.
The pool continues the hotel’s Disney theming rather than looking like a generic indoor lap pool. Disney has described the area as featuring characters and motifs inspired by The Little Mermaid.
The indoor setting is one of its strongest features. Shanghai weather can vary considerably across the year, but the pool is not dependent on warm summer conditions in the way an outdoor resort pool would be.
During my stay, it felt like a genuine part of the hotel rather than an amenity added as an afterthought. The atmosphere was quiet enough for swimming and relaxing even with families using the space.
Shanghai Disneyland Hotel pool hours
Shanghai Disney’s official King Triton Pool page currently lists the pool as open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM for today’s operating schedule.
I would still check the official Shanghai Disney Resort app or pool page during your stay because recreation hours can change.
The long operating window makes it fairly easy to fit swimming around a park day. You can swim before heading into Shanghai Disneyland, return to the hotel for an afternoon break or use the pool after leaving the park.
Who can use the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel pool?
King Triton Pool is located inside Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and is designed as a hotel recreation amenity.
During my stay, access to the pool area was controlled and I needed my hotel credentials. I would therefore not plan on staying somewhere else and visiting Shanghai Disneyland Hotel simply to use the pool.

Does Toy Story Hotel have a swimming pool?
Toy Story Hotel does not currently have a traditional swimming pool listed by Shanghai Disney Resort.
Disney instead lists family recreation such as the Play Room and Launch Pad activity area at Toy Story Hotel.
This is one of the more meaningful amenity differences between the two official hotels.
If your plan is to spend every waking hour inside Shanghai Disneyland, that difference may not matter much. If you want a resort afternoon or expect your children to ask for pool time, Shanghai Disneyland Hotel makes a stronger case.

What King Triton Pool was like during my stay
The thing I appreciated most was how calm the pool felt after being in the park.
There was enough space for children to enjoy the water without making the entire room feel like a chaotic family pool. Adults were also swimming and relaxing rather than simply supervising kids.
The indoor environment was clean and comfortable, and the quieter atmosphere made it easy to stay for a while rather than treating the pool as a quick stop.
If you are choosing Shanghai Disneyland Hotel specifically because you want downtime between park days, this is one amenity I would actually factor into the decision.
Are swim caps required?
Swim caps were required when I used King Triton Pool.
I did not need to bring my own because caps were available at the pool during my stay.
Because Shanghai Disney’s current public pool page does not publish detailed swim-cap rules, I would confirm the current policy when you arrive instead of assuming the procedure will always be identical.
If you are packing specifically for the pool, bring your normal swimsuit and check with the hotel about everything else.
Are towels provided?
During my stay, clean pool towels were available in the pool area, so I did not need to carry towels down from the hotel room.
I also found lockers and changing facilities useful when I did not want to carry everything around the pool deck.
These are the kinds of operational details that can change, so I would still follow the instructions posted at King Triton Pool when you visit.
Is King Triton Pool good for children?
Yes. Shanghai Disney currently categorizes King Triton Pool as appropriate for all ages.
During my stay, there was an area that worked well for younger children, while the main pool still provided enough room for stronger swimmers.
The hotel also has other family recreation outside the pool itself.
Hakuna Matata Oasis is an outdoor children’s activity area at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, and Disney also lists Mickey Mouse Playhouse as an indoor children’s activity center.
That combination gives Shanghai Disneyland Hotel much more of a resort-day feel than simply having a place to sleep before returning to the park.
Is there a whirlpool or relaxation area?
When I visited, there was a warmer relaxation area beside the main swimming space that was particularly welcome after walking around Shanghai Disneyland all day.
I would treat that as an observation from my stay rather than a guaranteed current amenity, since Shanghai Disney’s present public King Triton Pool listing does not describe a whirlpool separately.
Can you take photos at the pool?
Photography was discouraged while I was using the pool, particularly when other guests were nearby.
That makes sense for an indoor hotel pool where guests are swimming and changing nearby, but I would follow whatever instructions Cast Members give you during your visit.

The pool changes the value of Shanghai Disneyland Hotel
The pool matters because Shanghai Disneyland Hotel can cost considerably more than Toy Story Hotel or hotels outside the resort.
If all you need is a bed after spending 12 hours in Shanghai Disneyland, paying the premium for a pool you never use does not make much sense.
The hotel becomes easier to justify when you intend to use several of its advantages:
- King Triton Pool;
- Hakuna Matata Oasis;
- character dining;
- priority park entrance;
- complimentary water-taxi transportation;
- children’s recreation areas; and
- the quieter Wishing Star Lake setting.
Before deciding whether those amenities justify the room premium, compare the current Shanghai Disneyland Hotel prices.
Pool time vs. early park entry
I would not sacrifice the first part of a short Shanghai Disneyland visit just to swim in the morning.
Hotel guests have a valuable priority-entrance benefit, and the first part of the day can be much more useful for attractions than recreation.
A better approach for a park-focused trip is to use the morning for Shanghai Disneyland and save King Triton Pool for the afternoon or evening.

A pool break can make sense on a two-day visit
The pool becomes much easier to use when you have enough park time that you do not feel pressure to maximize every attraction hour.
On a one-day Shanghai Disneyland trip, I would prioritize the park.
With two or more days, returning to the hotel for a swim can be a useful break before going back out for dinner or evening entertainment.

Breakfast and pool time work well on a hotel-focused morning
If you are deliberately planning a slower hotel morning, King Triton Pool pairs naturally with breakfast at Lumière’s Kitchen.
The restaurant is currently a buffet and Character Dining location, so it can turn a non-park morning into part of the Disney experience rather than simply lost park time.

King Triton Pool vs. staying at a cheaper hotel
If the pool is only a minor bonus, I would not let it override the price difference between hotels.
Toy Story Hotel gives you an official Disney hotel experience and priority park entrance without the same level of resort amenities. Hotels outside Shanghai Disney Resort can reduce the room cost even further.
If you plan to spend nearly every waking hour inside the theme park, compare the Disney hotels with hotels near Shanghai Disneyland before paying extra specifically for recreation.

Is the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel pool worth using?
I would make time for it if you are already paying to stay at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.
King Triton Pool is not the kind of attraction that should replace your first few hours in Shanghai Disneyland, but it works very well for what I wanted from it: a quiet indoor place to recover after a long park day.
If you are choosing between the hotels, the pool is one of the real amenity advantages Shanghai Disneyland Hotel has over Toy Story Hotel. Whether that is worth the higher room rate depends on how much time you actually plan to spend at the resort.
