One of the first questions I had when planning our first Disney Cruise was: do Disney Cruises have alcohol packages? I wasn’t expecting anything wild, but I figured there might be a drink deal of some kind. Turns out, the answer is a little more nuanced than yes or no.
As someone who enjoys a glass of wine at dinner or a cocktail during sunset on the upper deck, I went into our cruise trying to figure out what to expect, what to budget, and whether it was worth splurging on any alcohol deals Disney might offer.
So if you’re trying to plan your cruise costs like I was, here’s what you really need to know about alcohol options on board.
Key Points If You’re Planning to Drink on a Disney Cruise
- Disney does not offer unlimited alcohol packages like some other cruise lines. Be prepared to pay per drink or purchase individual beverage bundles.
- Disney allows guests to bring a small amount of alcohol onboard at embarkation, which can help save money if you're strategic.
- Wine, beer, and cocktail tastings are fun and affordable ways to enjoy drinks on board without overspending.
Do Disney Cruises Have Alcohol Packages?
Let’s get straight to it: Disney Cruise Line does NOT offer a traditional all-you-can-drink alcohol package. If you’ve cruised with Royal Caribbean or Carnival and were hoping for a similar bottomless drinks deal, you’ll need to adjust your expectations.
Instead of a daily package, Disney offers a few smaller, pay-as-you-go options that are great if you're a casual drinker and don't plan on going overboard (pun intended).
Beer Packages
If you’re a beer drinker, Disney offers a refillable beer mug program that’s actually a decent deal. You buy a 21 oz beer mug for about $16.95 and then pay refill prices for the rest of the cruise. The refills cost the same as a 16 oz beer, so you're getting more beer for the same price.
At the end of the cruise, you can return the mug and get a souvenir token instead of lugging it home. This was a nice touch and made it feel less like a gimmick and more like a fair-value offer.
Wine Packages
Wine packages are available in 3-, 5-, or 7-bottle bundles. Prices range from about $100 for three bottles to around $200 for seven, depending on the selection tier you choose.
There’s typically a classic and premium tier, and the per-bottle price ends up being slightly cheaper than ordering individual glasses of wine each night. Your server will bring your chosen bottle to dinner, and if you don’t finish it, they’ll save it for you.
You can even take your unfinished bottle back to your room if you'd prefer to enjoy it privately.
Cocktail Tastings
This is where Disney gets creative. The cruise offers a variety of adult beverage tasting events, including:
- Mixology Classes
- Martini Tastings
- Mojito Tastings
- Whiskey or Bourbon Tastings
- Champagne Tastings
These events are typically held in one of the adult lounges and are hosted by knowledgeable bartenders. They usually cost between $25 and $40 per person, and each event includes 4–5 small drinks or samples.
It’s a great way to enjoy quality cocktails without spending $12+ per drink, and you often walk away with a few new drink ideas.
Bringing Your Own Alcohol Aboard
One of the few cruise lines that still allows this – Disney lets you bring your own alcohol on board, which can be a huge money-saver if you plan wisely.
As of now, guests 21 and older can bring:
- Up to 2 unopened bottles of wine or Champagne (750ml max) OR
- Six beers (12 oz or less) per person
This allowance resets at each embarkation port. So, if your cruise stops at multiple ports and you're mindful about restocking, you can take advantage of the rule more than once.
We brought two bottles of wine with us and enjoyed them slowly throughout the cruise in our stateroom. If you want to bring your wine to dinner, be prepared for a $26 corkage fee per bottle.
Important tip: You must carry this alcohol in your carry-on luggage during embarkation. Disney will confiscate it if it’s packed in checked bags. You can verify this on the Disney Cruise Line official website.
What Drinks Are Included on a Disney Cruise?
While alcoholic drinks are not free, Disney does include a generous number of non-alcoholic options with your fare.
- Soft drinks (Coke products) are free at meals and 24/7 at the pool deck drink station.
- Coffee and tea, including iced tea and hot water for tea bags, are included.
- Lemonade, milk, and filtered water are also available at no charge.
This is one area where Disney shines compared to other cruise lines that often charge for soda. If you’re traveling with kids or don’t drink alcohol regularly, this can save you quite a bit.
Specialty coffees, mocktails, and smoothies are extra. These typically cost between $4 and $7 depending on the drink and location.
Are the Drink Prices Reasonable?
Overall, yes. Prices are in line with what you’d pay at a mid-range restaurant or hotel bar:
- Cocktails: $10–$14 depending on ingredients and presentation
- Beer: $6–$8 for most domestic and imported options
- Wine by the glass: $9–$12
- Specialty coffees or mocktails: $4–$7
While you could easily spend $100 or more over a 3–4 night cruise if you drink daily, the pricing never felt inflated or opportunistic. The menus also rotate and include themed drinks depending on the location or lounge, which adds variety.
And again, since there's no unlimited drink package, you don't feel any pressure to “drink your money's worth” – something that can actually make the cruise more enjoyable.
Should You Budget for Alcohol on a Disney Cruise?
Absolutely. But how much really depends on your habits and how often you plan to drink.
Here’s a rough guide based on different types of travelers:
- Light drinkers (1–2 drinks per day): Budget around $75–$125 for a 4-night cruise
- Moderate drinkers (2–4 drinks per day): Expect to spend $150–$250
- Heavy drinkers: $300 and up, especially if adding tastings or wine packages
If you bring your own wine or beer, limit your drinking to one or two lounge visits, and maybe do a tasting, you can easily stay under $100.
But if you like to explore the lounges and enjoy a drink with every meal, then budgeting more is smart. Remember that drinks are charged to your stateroom, so it’s easy to lose track. I recommend checking your charges mid-cruise to avoid surprise bills.
Planning Ahead Makes a Big Difference
A little bit of planning goes a long way in making sure your onboard alcohol experience is enjoyable, not stressful.
Here are three planning tips that made a big difference for us:
- Reserve tasting events early: You can book many of them once your cruise activities open in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. They fill up quickly!
- Pre-order wine packages: If you know you’ll want wine at dinner, ordering a package ahead of time helps with budgeting.
- Don’t forget your carry-on wine or beer: It’s the easiest way to save money without sacrificing your cruise experience.
These strategies let us enjoy adult beverages while still keeping our overall spending in check.
