No, you cannot bring a pocket knife to Disneyland. Disneyland Resort’s current rules explicitly prohibit knives and weapons of any kind. There is no published exception for a small blade, folding knife or everyday-carry pocket knife, so leave it at home or somewhere off Disneyland Resort property before you arrive.
This is one Disneyland rule that doesn’t require much interpretation. Disney lists knives alongside firearms, ammunition and other weapons in both its property rules and prohibited-items list.
What to Know Before You Get to Security

Are Pocket Knives Allowed at Disneyland?
No. Disneyland’s rules specifically prohibit knives.
The wording doesn’t distinguish between a large knife and a small folding pocket knife. It simply says that firearms, ammunition, knives and weapons of any kind are prohibited.
Because there is no published blade-length exception, I wouldn’t assume a tiny pocket knife is okay simply because you normally carry it as a tool rather than a weapon.
The easiest solution is to check your pockets and backpack before leaving for Disneyland and leave the knife somewhere off resort property.
What About a Swiss Army Knife or Multi-Tool?
If the multi-tool includes a knife blade, I would leave it behind.
Disney doesn’t publish a special exemption for a knife simply because the blade happens to be part of a Swiss Army knife, Leatherman-style tool or another multi-tool.
If you have a blade-free tool and aren’t sure whether Disney will permit it, check the current prohibited-items list or ask Disney before your visit. Disney reserves discretion to prohibit other items it considers harmful or disruptive.
What Happens If You Accidentally Bring One?
I would not assume Disneyland will simply store a pocket knife for you or that security will handle every prohibited item in exactly the same way.
Disney’s published rules state that knives aren’t allowed and that Disney can refuse entry to an item. They don’t promise a storage, check-in or return service for prohibited knives.
If you realize you have one before reaching Disneyland Resort, the safest option is to leave it somewhere off Disney property rather than bringing it to the security checkpoint.
If Security discovers an item during screening, follow the instructions you’re given rather than assuming it will be confiscated, stored or returned later.
Can You Put a Pocket Knife in a Disneyland Locker?
I would not use a Disneyland locker as a workaround.
Disney does rent lockers inside the parks and in the Esplanade, but the prohibition on knives appears in the broader Disneyland Resort property rules. Disney does not advertise its lockers as storage for prohibited weapons.
Leave the knife off resort property instead.
What About Scissors and Nail Clippers?
This is where I would avoid extending Disney’s knife rule further than Disney itself does.
The current Disneyland prohibited-items list specifically names knives and weapons, but it does not separately list ordinary scissors or nail clippers.
That doesn’t mean every sharp object is guaranteed admission. Disney states that it can prohibit any other item it determines may be harmful or disruptive.
If you’re talking about unusually large or sharp scissors, a utility cutting tool or something that could reasonably be treated as a weapon, I would leave it behind. For an unusual item you genuinely need, contact Disneyland before visiting.
How Disneyland Security Handles Bags and Belongings
Disneyland uses security checkpoints at the theme park entrances, Downtown Disney District and resort hotels. Disney also says that people, bags, parcels, clothing and other belongings may be subject to screening.
Disney deliberately does not publish every detail of its security procedures, so I wouldn’t plan around assumptions about exactly what type of screening you’ll encounter.
The practical advice is simpler: don’t put a prohibited knife somewhere in your backpack expecting it to be overlooked.

Other Items Disney Specifically Prohibits
Knives are only one part of Disneyland’s prohibited-items list. Disney also specifically prohibits items including:
- Firearms and ammunition
- Weapons of any kind
- Pepper spray and mace
- Objects or toys that resemble weapons
- Fireworks and similar explosive or flammable objects
- Drones
