If your Disneyland plans change, the time on the clock matters. The Disneyland dining cancellation policy can be forgiving for a standard restaurant reservation, but it is not identical for every restaurant, character meal, dining package, or special event.
For many standard table-service reservations, the deadline is two hours before your scheduled dining time. If you miss that cutoff and do not show up, the card used to secure the reservation may be charged $10 per person. However, Disney says each Disneyland Resort restaurant maintains its own policy, so the terms in your confirmation email or the Disneyland app are the ones that apply to your booking.
Why the Disneyland Dining Cancellation Policy Is Not One Rule
The familiar two-hour deadline is the standard many guests will encounter. For example, Carthay Circle Restaurant currently publishes a two-hour cancellation window and a $10 charge for each person if the reservation is not canceled in time and the party is a no-show.
That does not make two hours and $10 a universal promise. Disney’s broader dining cancellation guidance says restaurants offering advance reservations charge a per-person fee after their designated cancellation period or for a no-show. It also tells guests that each restaurant maintains its own policy and that terms can change.

The safest approach is simple: read the cancellation terms before you complete the reservation, then check them again in the confirmation email. This matters most for holiday meals, prepaid experiences, and special dining events.
Special Dining Events Can Cost Much More to Miss
A special dining experience may have a longer deadline and a much larger penalty than an ordinary table-service meal. The World of Color Dessert Party, for example, requires full payment when you book. Disney currently requires cancellation at least one day before the reservation to avoid a fee. An untimely no-show can be charged the full package price for every person on the reservation.
Other dining packages and character meals may display their exact cutoff only during booking, in the app, or in the confirmation email. Do not assume a reservation at Goofy’s Kitchen, a holiday meal, or a show package follows the same terms as a regular lunch at a park restaurant.
How to Cancel a Disneyland Dining Reservation
You can cancel or modify a linked reservation through the Disneyland app or your MyDisney account. I would use whichever option you can access fastest if the deadline is approaching.
- Open your plans. In the Disneyland app, go to My Plans or Future Plans. On the website, open My Plans.
- Select the dining reservation. Open the booking you want to change and review the displayed cancellation terms before continuing.
- Choose Cancel Reservation. Follow the confirmation prompts. If you only need a different time, date, or party size, look for the modification option first.
- Save the cancellation confirmation. Keep the email or take a screenshot until you are certain no charge was applied.
If the reservation is not linked to your MyDisney account, Disney requires you to link it before canceling online or in the app. Use the confirmation number and the same account details connected to the original booking.
What to Do If the Cancellation Option Is Missing
First, confirm that you are signed into the account that holds the reservation. Search your email for the booking confirmation, since it may contain the applicable policy and a direct reservation link. If another person in your party made the booking, that person may need to manage it from their account.
If the reservation is linked but still will not appear, use the in-app chat or Disneyland’s current App and Online Support number, (714) 520-6222. Do not wait for an email response if you are close to the cancellation deadline.
If You Are Already Inside the Cancellation Window
Cancel as soon as you know you cannot make the meal, even if the stated deadline has passed. A late cancellation may still trigger the fee, but leaving the reservation untouched and becoming a no-show does not improve your position.
If an emergency, app failure, ride delay, or other unexpected problem caused the issue, contact Disney promptly and explain what happened. A Cast Member may be able to review the charge, but Disney does not publish a guaranteed emergency waiver. Weather, park closures, and other disruptions should not be treated as automatic exceptions unless Disney confirms otherwise for your reservation.
If you are merely running late and still intend to eat, do not treat cancellation as your first move. Check in or speak with the restaurant host as quickly as possible. Disneyland does not publish one resort-wide grace period, and late seating is not guaranteed. Canceling and Modifying Are Different Decisions
If the meal still works but the time or party details do not, try modifying the reservation before giving it up. A new time is subject to availability, so canceling first can leave you with nothing to rebook. Review the terms again after any change, especially if you switch from a standard meal to a prepaid package or holiday event.

Your Dining Reservation and Park Admission Are Separate
Canceling a restaurant does not cancel a theme park ticket or park reservation. The reverse is also important: a dining reservation inside Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure does not guarantee admission to that park. If the larger trip is changing, review the separate Disneyland cancellation policy for tickets and other bookings.
The practical rule is to cancel as early as you can, but trust the terms attached to your actual booking over any general summary. Two hours and $10 per person may apply to a standard meal. A prepaid event can require a full day’s notice and put the entire package price at risk.
