Yes, you can usually upgrade an eligible Disney World ticket to add Park Hopper after you’ve already purchased it. You can make the change before your trip, and eligible tickets can even be upgraded on the day you’re using them.
The two things I would understand before upgrading are the cost and the multi-day rule. There is no single flat Park Hopper upgrade price, and if you have a multi-day ticket, you generally cannot add Park Hopper to just one individual day.
Can You Upgrade to Park Hopper After Buying Your Disney World Ticket?
Yes. Buying a 1 Park Per Day ticket does not necessarily lock you into that ticket type for the entire trip.
If your ticket is eligible for modification, you can upgrade it to include the Park Hopper Option and pay the applicable price difference.
Disney currently directs guests who want to modify tickets to their My Disney Experience plans, the Disney Reservation Center or their travel professional.
If you’re already at Walt Disney World, a theme park ticket window or Guest Relations can also help with an eligible upgrade.
Can You Upgrade to Park Hopper the Same Day?
Yes, an eligible single-park Disney World ticket can be upgraded to Park Hopper on the day you’re using it.
If I knew I wanted to hop that day, I would make the change before entering the first park rather than waiting until I’m ready to leave. That gives me time to make sure the ticket is updated correctly before the Park Hopper benefit matters.
You don’t necessarily have to decide when you originally purchase your ticket, which makes starting with a base ticket a reasonable option if you’re genuinely unsure whether you’ll use Park Hopper.
How to Upgrade a Disney World Ticket to Park Hopper
If your ticket can be modified online, I would start with My Disney Experience.
- Open My Disney Experience and find your linked theme park ticket.
- Look for an option to change or modify the ticket.
- Select the ticket type that includes Park Hopper.
- Review the new ticket price and the amount due.
- Complete the modification.
If you don’t see an online modification option, contact Disney rather than assuming the ticket cannot be upgraded. Vacation-package tickets, promotional tickets and tickets purchased through other sellers can have different modification procedures.

How Much Does It Cost to Upgrade to Park Hopper?
There is no single fixed price to upgrade a Disney World ticket to Park Hopper.
The amount depends on your particular ticket, including factors such as:
- The number of ticket days
- Your ticket dates
- The type of ticket you originally purchased
- The current price of the Park Hopper version of that ticket
That’s why I would ignore older advice saying it always costs $65, $75 or $85 to add Park Hopper. The reliable number is the upgrade price Disney shows for your actual ticket.

Can You Add Park Hopper to Just One Day of a Multi-Day Ticket?
No, you generally cannot choose one individual day of a multi-day Disney World ticket and add Park Hopper only to that day.
For example, if you have a 3-day 1 Park Per Day ticket, you can’t leave the first two days as base-ticket days and convert only the third day into a Park Hopper day.
The Park Hopper option is applied to the multi-day ticket rather than sold as a separate upgrade for one selected day.
This is one reason I wouldn’t wait until the final day of a trip assuming you’ll be able to buy a cheap one-day Hopper add-on for the remaining admission.
Can You Upgrade a One-Day Disney World Ticket to Park Hopper?
Yes, an eligible one-day 1 Park Per Day ticket can be upgraded to the Park Hopper version.
This is different from trying to add Park Hopper to only one day within a multi-day ticket. A one-day ticket is already a complete ticket by itself, so you’re changing that ticket from the one-park option to the Park Hopper option.
If you’re already at Walt Disney World, I would make the upgrade before entering the park if possible so you know the ticket is ready before you plan to hop.
Is It Cheaper to Wait and Upgrade Later?
I would not wait simply because you’re expecting Disney to charge less later in the trip.
On a multi-day ticket, Park Hopper isn’t sold as a one-day add-on that becomes cheaper simply because you’ve already used some of the ticket.
If I already know I’m going to use Park Hopper several times, I would add it earlier so I have the benefit available throughout the trip.
If I’m genuinely unsure whether I’ll hop at all, starting with the less expensive base ticket can still make sense because an eligible ticket may be upgraded later.
How Park Hopper Works After You Upgrade
Once Park Hopper is active, you can visit more than one of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks during the same day.
- Magic Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom
You must first enter your first theme park of the day. After that, Disney currently allows guests with Park Hopper benefits to visit another theme park at any time during that park’s operating hours, subject to capacity.
The old Disney World rule requiring guests to wait until 2:00 PM before park hopping is no longer the current rule.
Standard date-based tickets also generally no longer require theme park reservations. Annual Passes and certain other admission types can have different reservation requirements.
Can You Visit More Than Two Parks in One Day?
Yes. Park Hopper isn’t limited to one switch between two parks.
After entering your first park, you can visit additional Walt Disney World theme parks during operating hours, subject to capacity.
Whether visiting three or four parks is actually a good use of your day is another question. Transportation and walking time can eat into the benefit quickly, so I usually think of Park Hopper as flexibility rather than a challenge to visit every park.
Park Hopper Does Not Include Disney World Water Parks
Regular Park Hopper covers movement between the four Walt Disney World theme parks. It does not by itself include admission to Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
Disney sells Park Hopper Plus for guests who want theme park hopping along with a certain number of visits to eligible water parks and other Disney sports-related experiences.
What If You Bought Your Ticket Somewhere Other Than Disney?
I would not assume that a third-party ticket either is or isn’t upgradeable based solely on where you purchased it.
Some promotional, discounted, package and specialty tickets have their own terms. If the ticket is linked to My Disney Experience, check whether Disney gives you a modification option.
If not, contact Disney or the company that issued the ticket and ask specifically whether your ticket can be upgraded to Park Hopper.
When Adding Park Hopper Makes the Most Sense
I would consider upgrading when the ability to move parks solves an actual problem in the itinerary.
- You want to spend the morning at one park and have dinner at EPCOT.
- One park closes much earlier than another.
- You have fewer park days than parks you want to visit.
- You want the flexibility to revisit a favorite park later in the trip.
- Your original one-park-per-day itinerary feels too restrictive once the trip begins.
If none of those situations applies, a normal 1 Park Per Day ticket may be all you need. The useful part is that you don’t necessarily have to make that decision when you first buy an eligible ticket.
