Animal Kingdom Lodge Restaurants Ranked: Best Places to Eat

The best Animal Kingdom Lodge Restaurants are Sanaa, Boma, Jiko, and The Mara, depending on what kind of meal you want. Sanaa is my top overall pick for the food and savanna-view setting, Boma is best for most families, Jiko is the best splurge dinner, and The Mara is the easiest quick-service option when convenience matters.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the best Disney resorts for food because the restaurants feel connected to the resort itself. The lobby, savanna overlooks, warm lighting, and African-inspired design all make dining here feel more memorable than a standard hotel meal.

This ranking is based on food, atmosphere, value, convenience, and whether I would go out of my way to eat there again.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Restaurants Ranked Best to Worst

Animal Kingdom Lodge has two main areas: Jambo House and Kidani Village. Jambo House has Boma, Jiko, The Mara, Victoria Falls Lounge, Cape Town Lounge, and Uzima Springs Pool Bar. Kidani Village has Sanaa and Sanaa Lounge.

That distinction matters because the resort is spread out. Before booking, make sure you know which building your restaurant is in, especially if you are coming from Disney Animal Kingdom or another resort.

1. Sanaa

Sanaa is my top pick at Animal Kingdom Lodge because it has the best mix of food, atmosphere, and uniqueness. It is located at Kidani Village, and some tables look out toward the Sunset Savanna, which makes the meal feel very specific to this resort.

The Indian-style bread service is the standout dish and one of the most memorable appetizers at Walt Disney World. It is easy to share, flavorful, and a great choice even if not everyone at the table is an adventurous eater.

I like Sanaa most for lunch or an early dinner because the savanna view matters more during daylight. At night, the food is still worth it, but the room loses some of the visual magic.

Best for

Sanaa is best for adults, couples, families with semi-adventurous eaters, and anyone who wants the most memorable overall meal at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

2. Boma

Boma is the best choice for most families and mixed groups. It is located at Jambo House and serves buffet meals in a lively, marketplace-style dining room.

What makes Boma work so well is variety. There are familiar buffet items, but also soups, roasted meats, sauces, sides, and desserts that feel more interesting than a basic resort buffet. It is one of the easiest Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants to recommend because almost everyone can find something they like.

Breakfast is the safer choice for picky eaters. Dinner is more distinctive and feels more like a true Animal Kingdom Lodge dining experience.

Best for

Boma is best for families, groups, buffet fans, and visitors who want a fun sit-down meal without the formality or price of Jiko.

3. Jiko

Jiko is the signature dining restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is the best option for a special dinner, date night, or a quieter adults-focused meal at the resort.

The room feels calmer and more polished than Boma, and the menu is more elevated. You will usually find dishes built around steak, seafood, chicken, and plant-based options with African, Indian, and Mediterranean influences.

I do not rank Jiko first because it is not the best fit for every trip. It costs more, takes longer, and works best when you actually want a slower signature dining experience. If you are tired after a park day with kids, Boma or The Mara may be the smarter choice.

Best for

Jiko is best for adults, date nights, food-focused Disney trips, and anyone staying at the lodge who wants a splurge dinner without leaving the resort.

4. The Mara

The Mara is the main quick-service restaurant at Jambo House. It is not as memorable as Sanaa, Boma, or Jiko, but it is extremely useful.

This is where I would eat when I want a quick breakfast, casual lunch, easy dinner, or snack without needing a reservation. On a real Disney trip, that convenience matters. Not every meal needs to be a full sit-down event.

The Mara is especially helpful if you are staying at Jambo House, using the pool, or coming back from a long day and want something simple.

Best for

The Mara is best for quick meals, resort guests, families who need flexibility, and anyone who does not want to plan around a reservation.

5. Victoria Falls Lounge

Victoria Falls Lounge is the best lounge option at Jambo House. It sits near the Boma area and has a relaxed, tucked-away feel that works well before or after dinner.

I would not treat it like a main restaurant, but it is a great place for a drink, a slower evening, or a pre-dinner stop before Boma or Jiko.

Best for

Victoria Falls Lounge is best for adults, cocktails, pre-dinner drinks, and relaxed nights at Jambo House.

6. Sanaa Lounge

Sanaa Lounge is a good option if you are at Kidani Village and want drinks or small bites without committing to the full Sanaa meal.

It is not as strong as the main restaurant, but it works well if you want a lighter experience in the same general setting.

Best for

Sanaa Lounge is best for adults, casual bites, drinks, and Kidani Village guests who want something easier than a full reservation.

7. Uzima Springs Pool Bar

Uzima Springs Pool Bar is a convenience pick, not a destination meal. It is useful if you are spending time at the Jambo House pool and want a drink, snack, or casual lunch.

The setting is pleasant because the resort is so immersive, but I would not travel to Animal Kingdom Lodge just to eat here.

Best for

Uzima Springs Pool Bar is best for pool breaks, light lunches, drinks, and resort guests who want something casual.

8. Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar

Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar is best as an add-on to a Jiko evening. It makes sense for wine, cocktails, or waiting before a reservation, but I would not build a meal around it.

It is a nice stop if you are already at Jambo House, but it is the easiest one to skip if your goal is a full meal.

Best for

Cape Town Lounge is best for wine, cocktails, and pre-Jiko pacing.

Should You Eat at Animal Kingdom Lodge if You Are Not Staying There?

Yes, Animal Kingdom Lodge is worth visiting for food if you choose one of the stronger restaurants. I would make the trip for Sanaa, Boma, or Jiko. I would not go out of my way for The Mara or the pool bar unless I was already staying at the resort.

The biggest thing to watch is timing. If you are leaving the park, the meal will take longer than it looks on paper. You need time for transportation, walking through the resort, eating, and getting back if you plan to return to the park.

If your main goal is to maximize rides and attractions, eating inside the park may be easier. For that comparison, my guide to the best restaurants at Animal Kingdom is more useful. If you want a broader overview, the list of all the restaurants at Animal Kingdom can help you compare park dining with resort dining.

Here is my personal ranking of the Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants:

  1. Sanaa
  2. Boma
  3. Jiko
  4. The Mara
  5. Victoria Falls Lounge
  6. Sanaa Lounge
  7. Uzima Springs Pool Bar
  8. Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar

Sanaa is the best overall restaurant, Boma is the safest pick for families, and Jiko is the best choice for a special dinner. The Mara is the practical choice when you want something quick and easy.
