The Tomorrowland Rides at Magic Kingdom I would prioritize first are TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Astro Orbiter, Tomorrowland Speedway, PeopleMover, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, and Carousel of Progress. That order gives you the best balance of lower waits, better timing, and a smoother day in one of Magic Kingdom’s busiest and most uneven lands.
Tomorrowland is easy to overcomplicate because not every ride needs the same strategy. Some rides are worth doing early because the waits build. Others are better saved for the afternoon when you need air-conditioning, shade, or a seated break.
I usually treat Tomorrowland as a two-part land. I hit the priority rides early, then come back later for the slower, more relaxing attractions. That keeps the morning efficient without wasting the best break rides too soon.
If you are planning the rest of the park around this land, my broader Magic Kingdom guide can help you fit Tomorrowland into the rest of your day.
Tomorrowland Rides at Magic Kingdom Ranked by What to Ride First
This ranking is based on what I would actually ride first during a normal Magic Kingdom day. It is not only about which ride is “best.” It is about which rides are most important to do before the waits, heat, and crowds make them less enjoyable.
1. TRON Lightcycle / Run
TRON Lightcycle / Run is the Tomorrowland ride I would plan around first. It is the biggest modern headliner in the land, and it feels the most different from the rest of Magic Kingdom.
The ride is short, but the launch, bike-style seating, music, and glowing canopy make it feel like a true Tomorrowland centerpiece. Because it is such a popular thrill ride, I would not casually leave it for later unless you are using a strong Lightning Lane strategy or see a surprisingly reasonable wait.
If TRON is a must-do for your group, make it your top Tomorrowland priority.
2. Space Mountain
Space Mountain is the classic Tomorrowland thrill ride and still one of the most important rides in the land. It is dark, fast-feeling, jerky, and more intense than some first-time visitors expect.
I would ride Space Mountain early because the wait can climb, and the experience is much better when you are not already tired. It is also one of the few true thrill rides at Magic Kingdom, so skipping it changes the feel of a Tomorrowland visit.
If you are comparing it with the other coasters in the park, my guide to Magic Kingdom roller coasters can help you decide how high it should rank for your group.
3. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is one of the easiest Tomorrowland rides to recommend because it works for kids, adults, and mixed groups. It is indoors, interactive, and competitive without being intense.
I would not put it ahead of TRON or Space Mountain, but I do like riding it before the line gets too long. The ride is more fun when it feels like a quick stop instead of something you waited a long time to do.
This is also a good ride to use as a transition after the bigger thrill rides. It keeps you in Tomorrowland, gets you inside, and gives everyone something to do.
4. Astro Orbiter
Astro Orbiter is not a major headliner, but I rank it fairly high because the loading process is slow and the line can feel longer than it looks. If you want to ride it, I would do it early or late.
The ride itself is basically an elevated spinner, but the height makes it feel more exciting than it sounds. You get one of the best views in Tomorrowland, especially at night when the land is glowing.
I would avoid making Astro Orbiter a midday priority. The wait, sun, and loading setup can make it feel less worth it during the hottest part of the day.
5. Tomorrowland Speedway
Tomorrowland Speedway is most worth prioritizing if you are visiting with kids who really want to drive. For adults, it is often loud, slow, hot, and more nostalgic than exciting.
I would ride it in the morning if it matters to your group. The outdoor queue and track can feel rough later in the day, especially in warm weather.
This is not a ride I would put ahead of the major Tomorrowland headliners, but for younger kids it can be one of the more memorable attractions in the land. If you are planning around children, it may be worth comparing with other Magic Kingdom rides for kids.
6. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
The PeopleMover is one of my personal favorite Tomorrowland rides, but I do not think it needs to be first. It is better as a break ride than a rope-drop ride.
This is the attraction I save for late morning, afternoon, or night. You get to sit down, move above Tomorrowland, pass through a few attraction spaces, and take in the land without fighting a crowd.
The PeopleMover is especially good when the park starts to feel hot or packed. It is not thrilling, but it is one of the best reset rides in Magic Kingdom.
7. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor is more of a show than a ride, but it is still a useful Tomorrowland stop. It is indoors, seated, and usually works best when you need a break.
I would not ride it first unless the weather is bad or your group needs something easy right away. The comedy is family-friendly, and the experience depends a little on the crowd.
For me, this is an afternoon attraction. It gives you air-conditioning and a pause without leaving Tomorrowland. I have a separate guide to Magic Kingdom Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor if you are deciding whether it is worth fitting into your day.
8. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Carousel of Progress is last for ride priority, but not last in charm. I like it, but I rarely think it needs to be one of the first things you do in Tomorrowland.
This is a slow, classic, rotating theater show with a lot of old-school Disney personality. It is best when you want to sit down, cool off, and slow the pace of the day.
I would save Carousel of Progress for midday or early afternoon. It is not the ride to rush to first, but it can be exactly what you need after a busy morning.
Best Morning Order for Tomorrowland
If Tomorrowland is your first land of the day, I would keep the plan simple. Do the rides that get long or uncomfortable first, then save the relaxing attractions for later.
My preferred morning order is:
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
- Space Mountain
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Astro Orbiter
- Tomorrowland Speedway, if it matters to your group
- Leave PeopleMover, Laugh Floor, and Carousel of Progress for later
This order works because it protects your morning from the biggest Tomorrowland waits. It also keeps you from using the PeopleMover or Carousel of Progress too early, when those rides are more valuable later as breaks.
If you are trying to coordinate Tomorrowland with the whole park, it is worth comparing this with your larger Magic Kingdom rope drop plan.
Best Tomorrowland Rides for Adults
For adults, the strongest Tomorrowland priorities are TRON, Space Mountain, and the PeopleMover. That gives you the newest thrill, the classic thrill, and the best relaxing ride in the land.
Buzz Lightyear is also fun for adults if your group enjoys competing for scores. I would not call it a must-do over the thrill rides, but it is a solid indoor attraction when the wait is manageable.
If I were visiting Magic Kingdom without kids, I would not give Tomorrowland Speedway much priority unless I wanted the nostalgia.
Best Tomorrowland Rides for Kids
For kids, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is usually the safest all-around Tomorrowland pick. It is playful, interactive, indoors, and not scary.
Tomorrowland Speedway can also be a big hit with kids because they get to steer. Adults may not love the noise or pace, but kids often remember it.
TRON and Space Mountain depend more on height and thrill tolerance. TRON has a bigger modern thrill feel, while Space Mountain can feel scarier because it is dark and bumpy.
Best Tomorrowland Rides for a Midday Break
Tomorrowland is useful in the middle of the day because several attractions let you sit down or get inside. This is when I would stop thinking only about ranking and start thinking about comfort.
The best midday Tomorrowland breaks are:
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, if the wait is reasonable
I would usually avoid Tomorrowland Speedway and Astro Orbiter in the hottest part of the day unless the waits are short. Both can feel less enjoyable when the sun is strong.
Should You Use Lightning Lane for Tomorrowland Rides?
For Tomorrowland, the main Lightning Lane priorities are TRON and Space Mountain. Those are the rides where skipping a long wait can make the biggest difference.
Buzz Lightyear can also be useful if the park is busy, but I would not make it a top pick over bigger Magic Kingdom headliners. PeopleMover, Carousel of Progress, and Laugh Floor are better as flexible filler attractions.
For a full park strategy, use a broader Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane strategy so you are not over-prioritizing Tomorrowland at the expense of bigger waits elsewhere.
Quick Tomorrowland Ride Priority Chart
| Priority | Ride | Best Time to Ride | Why I’d Ride It Then |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | TRON Lightcycle / Run | Early or with Lightning Lane | Biggest Tomorrowland headliner |
| 2 | Space Mountain | Early morning or later evening | Classic thrill ride with waits |
| 3 | Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin | Morning | Fun indoor ride before the line builds |
| 4 | Astro Orbiter | Early or night | Slow loading, better views at night |
| 5 | Tomorrowland Speedway | Morning if kids care | Better before the heat builds |
| 6 | PeopleMover | Afternoon or night | Best relaxing Tomorrowland ride |
| 7 | Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor | Afternoon | Good indoor seated break |

My Simple Tomorrowland Recommendation
If you only have time for three Tomorrowland rides, I would choose TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain, and the PeopleMover. That gives you the land’s newest thrill, its classic coaster, and its best relaxing attraction.
If you are visiting with kids, I would add Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Tomorrowland Speedway higher on your personal list. If you are visiting during a hot or crowded afternoon, I would save PeopleMover, Laugh Floor, and Carousel of Progress for when you need a break.
The main thing is to avoid treating every Tomorrowland ride equally. Ride the high-demand attractions first, save the comfort rides for later, and use the land strategically instead of trying to clear it all at once.
