What Is the Best Way to Get From Orlando Airport to Disney World?
For most adults and families with older children, Uber or Lyft provides the best balance of price, speed and convenience. You can request a vehicle after collecting your luggage and travel directly to your Disney hotel without stopping at other resorts.
Mears Connect can cost less for one or two passengers, but the shared shuttle may stop at several hotels. Once you have three or four paying passengers, compare the total Mears fare with the current Uber, Lyft and private-car prices. A direct ride may cost only slightly more.
For parents traveling with infants or several children who need car seats, a reserved private car is often the easiest option. You can confirm the number and type of seats before arriving rather than hoping the correct rideshare vehicle is available.
Uber or Lyft From Orlando Airport to Disney World
Uber and Lyft are normally the most convenient choices for getting from MCO to Disney World. Most rides fall somewhere around $35 to $70 before a tip, but prices can rise during busy arrival periods, holidays and bad weather.
The actual driving portion commonly takes 25 to 40 minutes. You should also allow time to collect your luggage, walk to the pickup area, request the vehicle and find your driver.
Entering Your Disney Resort as the Destination

Double-check the full resort name before confirming the ride. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Disney’s All-Star Resorts and several Disney Vacation Club properties have names that can be easy to confuse when you are tired after a flight.
Where to Find Rideshare Pickup at MCO
At Terminals A and B, rideshare vehicles generally pick up passengers from the Arrivals Curb on Level 2. At Terminal C, pickup is generally on the Arrivals Curb on Level 6.
Follow the airport signs and confirm the exact pickup zone shown in your Uber or Lyft app. Orlando International Airport can adjust pickup locations, and the app should provide the most relevant instructions for your terminal.
Using Uber or Lyft With Children
A standard Uber or Lyft driver is not guaranteed to carry a child seat. You can bring and install your own seat or check whether a car-seat vehicle is available through the app.
Car-seat rides can have limited availability, especially during busy travel periods. Families needing two or more seats should consider a private car service or another option that can confirm the correct equipment in advance.
Mears Connect Shuttle From Orlando Airport
Mears Connect operates shared transportation between Orlando International Airport and many Disney World-area hotels. It is one of the least expensive ways to travel directly from MCO to a participating resort.
Standard Service pricing starts at approximately $18 each way for adults and $15 for children. Children younger than three may ride free, but prices and fuel surcharges can change. Check the current Mears Connect pricing before making your reservation.
The main disadvantage is travel time. You will probably wait for the shuttle to depart and may stop at other hotels before reaching yours. I would plan for approximately 45 to 75 minutes after leaving the airport, although individual trips can be shorter or longer.
Mears Connect and Car Seats
Mears Standard Service commonly uses a motorcoach, where passenger-car child seats are not normally installed. This is one reason the service is popular with families who do not want to carry a car seat through the airport.
The type of vehicle used can vary, however. Parents with specific child-restraint requirements should contact Mears before booking rather than assuming a particular vehicle will be used.
Mears Express Service
Mears also offers an Express option with direct or limited-stop service. It is substantially more expensive than Standard Service and may only be offered as part of a round-trip reservation.
Compare the current Express price against private-car transportation before booking. Depending on the size of your group, a private vehicle may offer better value and a more personalized experience.
Private Car Services From MCO
A private car service is one of the easiest airport options for families who want a confirmed vehicle, scheduled pickup and direct transportation to their Disney Resort hotel.
Depending on the company and vehicle, expect to pay approximately $90 to $160 one way. Larger vans, multiple child seats, grocery stops, late-night arrivals and airport meet-and-greet service may increase the total.
The biggest advantage is predictability. You can confirm exactly how many passengers, suitcases and car seats the vehicle can accommodate. Some companies also monitor your flight and adjust the pickup time if your arrival is delayed.
Some private transportation companies offer a short grocery stop on the way to your hotel. This can be useful if you want bottled water, breakfast food, snacks or basic supplies without placing a separate grocery delivery order.
For a larger family, compare the total private-car price against several individual Mears tickets or an UberXL. The price difference can be smaller than it first appears.
Taking a Taxi From Orlando Airport
Taxis remain a practical option when you want to leave immediately without downloading an app or reserving transportation in advance.
Licensed airport taxis use a meter rather than a guaranteed flat airport rate. A trip to the Disney World area will frequently cost around $60 to $80 before a tip, but the final fare depends on your resort, the route and traffic conditions.
Taxi pickup areas are located outside the airport terminals. Follow the airport signs for Ground Transportation and use an official taxi stand rather than accepting transportation from someone approaching travelers inside the terminal.
You generally do not need to reserve a taxi in advance. This makes a taxi useful when rideshare prices are unusually high or you simply want to get into the next available vehicle.
Do not assume that a taxi will have a child seat. Families should bring their own or reserve transportation that specifically includes the appropriate seats.
Renting a Car at Orlando Airport
A rental car makes sense when Disney World is only one part of your Orlando vacation. It gives you the freedom to visit Universal Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center, grocery stores, restaurants and attractions away from Disney property.
Rental prices vary too much by season, vehicle and reservation date to rely on a single daily estimate. Compare the complete price after taxes, airport fees, insurance, tolls, fuel and child-seat rentals.
The drive from MCO to Disney World frequently uses toll roads. Some rental companies charge additional administrative fees for processing electronic tolls, so review the company’s toll policy before leaving the airport.
Parking at Disney World
Standard overnight self-parking is complimentary for guests staying at Disney Resort hotels. Disney Resort guests also receive complimentary standard parking at the theme parks during their stay.

If you are staying off-site, your hotel may charge its own nightly parking or resort fee. You may also need to pay for theme-park parking, so include those costs when comparing a rental car with rideshare transportation.
Do You Need a Rental Car at a Disney Resort?
If you plan to remain entirely on Disney property, a rental car may spend most of the vacation parked. Disney provides complimentary buses, boats, monorails and Skyliner transportation between many resorts and attractions.

Minnie Van Airport Service
Minnie Van airport service is Disney’s premium transportation option between MCO and Walt Disney World. The red-and-white polka-dot vehicles are driven by Disney Cast Members and can include up to two complimentary child seats.
Airport service is not available to every Disney World visitor. It is generally offered to eligible guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and certain Club Level rooms.
The airport service works differently from regular Minnie Van transportation within Disney World. You cannot simply land at MCO and request an airport trip through the Lyft app.
Eligible guests must contact Disney to check availability and reserve the airport service in advance. Reservations may be available beginning 60 days before arrival and must generally be made at least two days ahead.
The advertised price has been approximately $199 each way, but verify the amount when booking. At that price, Minnie Van service is primarily for families who value the Disney-operated experience, included car seats and convenience more than saving money.
What Is the Cheapest Transportation From Orlando Airport to Disney World?
The cheapest transportation from Orlando Airport to Disney World is LYNX Route 311. A standard ride currently costs $2 and connects MCO with Disney Springs, although it does not provide direct transportation to individual Disney Resort hotels.
The trip from MCO to Disney Springs usually takes approximately 55 to 75 minutes, depending on traffic and the schedule. You should also account for the time needed to reach your hotel after arriving at Disney Springs.
The important limitation is that Route 311 does not drop you directly at your Disney Resort hotel. You will still need transportation from Disney Springs to your final destination, and handling several suitcases on public transportation can be inconvenient.
Disney Resort buses are intended for transportation around Walt Disney World rather than airport transfers with full-size luggage. Depending on your hotel and arrival time, you may need an Uber, Lyft or taxi for the final portion of the trip.
I would consider Route 311 for a solo traveler or couple traveling light. For a family with children, strollers and multiple suitcases, Mears Connect or a direct vehicle will usually be worth the additional cost.
Is There a Free Shuttle From Orlando Airport to Disney World?
No. Disney does not currently provide a complimentary shuttle from Orlando International Airport to Disney Resort hotels.
Disney’s Magical Express previously provided free airport transportation for Disney Resort guests, but the service ended in January 2022. Mears Connect, rideshare services, taxis, private cars, rental cars and eligible Minnie Van airport service are paid options.
Once you arrive at Walt Disney World, Disney transportation between most hotels, theme parks and other Disney destinations is complimentary.
How Far Is Orlando Airport From Disney World?
Orlando International Airport is approximately 20 to 25 miles from the Walt Disney World area. The exact distance depends on your hotel because Disney World covers a large area.
A direct drive usually takes around 25 to 40 minutes. Heavy traffic, construction, toll-road conditions and the location of your resort can extend the trip to 45 minutes or longer.
Hotels near Disney Springs and the eastern side of Disney property may be slightly closer to MCO than resorts near Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The difference is not usually large enough to determine which airport transportation option you should choose.
How Early Should You Leave Disney World for MCO?
For your return trip, I would normally plan to leave Disney World approximately three hours before a domestic flight and four hours before an international flight.
This provides time for the drive, airport check-in, luggage drop-off, security and walking to your gate. Orlando International Airport can become extremely busy during school vacations, holidays and popular Disney event weekends.
Travelers using Mears Connect should follow the pickup time assigned by the company. Because the shuttle may collect passengers from several resorts, your pickup will usually be earlier than it would be for a private car, taxi or rideshare vehicle.
Which Orlando Airport Transportation Option Should You Choose?

My Recommendation
For most Disney World trips, I would first compare the live Uber and Lyft prices with the total cost of Mears Connect for everyone in the group. Rideshare is usually the easiest choice for adults and older children, while Mears is particularly useful for smaller groups who want an inexpensive airport transfer.
Families needing several child seats should reserve a private car before traveling. It costs more, but confirming the correct seats and vehicle ahead of time can remove one of the most stressful parts of arriving in Orlando.
A rental car is most useful when you plan to leave Disney property several times. If your entire vacation will be spent at Disney Resort hotels, theme parks and Disney Springs, Disney’s internal transportation can handle most of your travel after you check in.
