Yes, you can bring your own water bottle into Disney World. Reusable metal, stainless steel, insulated and plastic water bottles are allowed, as are normal disposable plastic water bottles. The important restriction is glass: Disney prohibits glass containers in the theme parks, with limited exceptions such as small baby-food jars.
Your bottle also doesn’t have to be empty when you enter. Disney allows guests to bring nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for their own consumption, so bringing a bottle already filled with water is fine under the current rules.
Once you’re inside, Disney has dedicated water bottle refill stations throughout Walt Disney World, which makes carrying a reusable bottle especially useful in Florida’s heat.
Disney World Allows Metal, Plastic and Insulated Water Bottles
Disney’s current rules don’t specify that your water bottle has to be made from one particular material.
For a normal park visit, you can bring:
- Stainless steel water bottles
- Insulated bottles such as Hydro Flask-style bottles
- Reusable plastic water bottles
- Disposable plastic bottled water
- Bottles already filled with water or another permitted nonalcoholic drink
The material Disney specifically restricts is glass. Walt Disney World’s current property rules prohibit glass containers in the parks except for limited exceptions such as small baby-food jars.

Can You Bring a Metal Water Bottle Into Disney World?
Yes. Disney does not prohibit metal or stainless steel water bottles.
That makes insulated stainless steel bottles a practical choice if you want your water to stay cold for longer during a hot park day.
I would not, however, follow the frequently repeated advice that Disney officially requires you to remove a metal bottle from your backpack and carry it through security in a particular way. Disney says guests and belongings may be subject to security screening, but its current published rules don’t provide a special metal-water-bottle procedure.
If a security Cast Member gives you an instruction at the checkpoint, follow that instruction at the time.
Your Water Bottle Can Already Be Full
You don’t need to arrive at Disney World with an empty bottle and wait until you’re inside to fill it.
Disney explicitly allows guests to bring outside nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for their own consumption, provided they meet Disney’s other rules.
So a reusable bottle filled with water or a sealed disposable bottle of water can come through the entrance with you.

Where Disney World Has Water Bottle Refill Stations
Disney now publishes an official map of dedicated bottle-filling stations around Walt Disney World, and there are locations in all four theme parks.
As of 2026, Disney lists refill stations at locations including:
Magic Kingdom
- TRON restrooms
- Pinocchio Village Haus
- Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
EPCOT
- International Gateway entrance restrooms and lockers
- Connections Café restrooms
- Rose Walk restrooms
- The Odyssey Building
- Outside Guest Relations
- Outside Journey of Water
- CommuniCore Hall
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios has a particularly good number of refill points, including locations around Galaxy’s Edge, Grand Avenue, Pixar Plaza, Sunset Boulevard and outside Guest Relations.
Animal Kingdom
Disney currently lists bottle-filling stations in and around Pandora, including the Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey queues, along with locations near Flame Tree Barbecue, Mombasa Marketplace and Satu’li Canteen.
Disney maintains a current water bottle refill station map, which I’d use during the trip rather than relying on an old static list because locations can change.
You Can Bring More Than Plain Water
Disney’s rule is written around nonalcoholic beverages, not water specifically.
That means bringing a sports drink, electrolyte drink or another nonalcoholic beverage isn’t automatically prohibited simply because it isn’t plain water.
Alcohol is different. Disney’s property rules prohibit guests from bringing outside alcoholic beverages into the theme parks.
The Bottle Still Has to Fit in Whatever Bag You Bring
Disney doesn’t publish a separate maximum size just for ordinary water bottles, but anything you’re carrying in a backpack or cooler still needs to work within the park’s general bag rules.
Suitcases, bags, coolers and backpacks larger than 24 inches long by 15 inches wide by 18 inches high aren’t allowed in the theme parks or water parks.

One Water-Bottle Rule Changes at Animal Kingdom
The bottle itself isn’t the issue, but Disney’s Animal Kingdom has an additional environmental restriction worth knowing about.
Plastic straws aren’t permitted at Animal Kingdom. The same restriction applies at Disney’s water parks and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
If your reusable bottle has its own built-in straw, I would check the current park rules before relying on it at Animal Kingdom rather than assuming every bottle accessory is treated the same way.
Disney Security May Screen Your Water Bottle
Disney’s property rules state that guests, bags, parcels, clothing and other belongings may be subject to screening or security checks.
That applies to a bag containing a water bottle just as it does to your other park belongings. But Disney doesn’t publish a rule saying every water bottle must be opened, emptied or individually inspected on every visit.
There’s therefore no reason to empty a permitted bottle simply because you’re approaching Disney security unless a Cast Member specifically asks you to do something with it.
For most visitors, the water bottle policy is simpler than it sounds: bring a plastic or metal bottle, fill it before you arrive if you want, leave glass at home and refill it at Disney’s bottle stations throughout the day.
