Disney does not connect these ranges to named characters in its current guidance. It does not say that everyone in the shortest range will portray Mickey Mouse or that everyone in the tallest range will portray Goofy.
“Special consideration” also does not mean that everyone outside these ranges is automatically ineligible. It describes heights Disney particularly needs for this specific round of College Program casting.
Disney character height ranges can change according to the resort, production, available costumes and characters that need to be staffed. Always check the individual audition notice before deciding whether you qualify.

Princesses and other roles in which the performer’s face is visible are generally described by Disney as Character Look-Alikes. Casting depends on more than height. Older charts sometimes claim that all Disney princesses must fall within a particular height range. Those figures may have originated with an old audition, one resort or a particular casting need. They should not be treated as permanent requirements for every princess.

Potential Character Look-Alikes may be asked to complete an individual reading and have a photograph taken during the audition. Casting may consider:

- Costume fit
- Disney’s current staffing needs
Disney also says that performers selected for Character Look-Alike roles perform as fully costumed characters as well. Being selected as a potential princess or another visible character does not necessarily mean that will be the performer’s only assignment.
Disney Mascot, Fur and Costume Character Height Requirements
People frequently search for Disney mascot height requirements, Disney fur character height requirements and Disney costume character height requirements. Disney’s current official term is fully costumed, sculpted Disney Characters.
These roles use complete costumes that may include large heads, feet and body pieces. Accurate measurements are important because the performer must fit the approved costume safely while creating the intended proportions.
Height is only one consideration. Fully costumed performers must also be able to:
- Communicate through clear body language
- Perform with limited vision and range of motion
- Move safely in large costume pieces
- Work indoors and outdoors in warm weather
- Pose for photographs and interact with guests
- Maintain consistent energy without using facial expressions
Disney says all current College Program character performers work as fully costumed characters, including performers who may also appear in Character Look-Alike roles, parades or shows.

Several named-character height requirements are repeated across unofficial websites. Disney’s current general performer guidance, however, does not assign permanent public ranges to Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy or Tinker Bell.
Mickey Mouse Height Requirement
Disney does not currently publish one permanent Mickey Mouse performer height requirement in its general College Program guidance. Shorter performers may receive special consideration when Disney has a particular costume or character need, but the published guidance does not guarantee a Mickey Mouse assignment.
Minnie Mouse Height Requirement
The same applies to Minnie Mouse. Disney’s current public guidance does not provide a separate permanent Minnie Mouse height range. Casting depends on the current audition and costume needs.
Goofy Height Requirement
Goofy is generally portrayed with tall proportions, but Disney does not currently publish a permanent Goofy performer height requirement in its general guidance. The 6’2″ to 6’6″ special-consideration range is a current College Program priority, not an official statement that everyone in that range performs as Goofy.
Tinker Bell Height Requirement
Disney does not currently publish one permanent Tinker Bell height requirement covering every performance or resort. A Tinker Bell range found on another website may have come from an older, location-specific audition.
These answers concern the performers portraying the characters. They are separate from questions about the fictional or canonical heights of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Tinker Bell.
Disney World vs. Disneyland Character Height Requirements
Disney World character height requirements and Disneyland character height requirements should not automatically be treated as identical.
The three special-consideration ranges listed earlier come from current Disney College Program guidance for Walt Disney World. That program information does not establish permanent requirements for Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris or other Disney destinations.
Disney’s audition website allows applicants to filter openings by resort. Read the complete notice for the destination where you want to work because its current roles, costume inventory and casting needs may be different.
How Strict Are Disney’s Height Requirements?
If an audition notice includes a height range, assume Disney intends to use it. Costume fit, performer safety and visual consistency all depend on accurate measurements.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes because you will be moving. Disney recommends coming as yourself and keeping makeup natural if you choose to wear it.
Professional, seasonal, cruise line and international auditions may follow different procedures, so always follow the instructions in the specific posting.

Meeting a requested height range only makes you potentially eligible for roles within Disney’s current casting needs. It does not guarantee that you will advance or receive an offer.
