Shanghai Disneyland currently has character meet-and-greets throughout the park, including Mickey Mouse, Duffy and Friends, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, Disney royalty, Spider-Man, Winnie the Pooh characters, Toy Story characters and more.
The important thing is not to assume every character appears every day. Some experiences feature one specific character, while others rotate among a group of friends. Shanghai Disney also changes schedules and seasonal entertainment throughout the year.
I’ve encountered both scheduled greetings and more unexpected character appearances during my visits, so I use the official Shanghai Disney Resort app on the actual park day rather than relying on an old character list.
Current Shanghai Disneyland Character Meet-and-Greets
Shanghai Disney currently lists these character experiences in its official park directory:

This is a better starting point than trying to create a permanent list of every individual character. Several of these greetings rotate, and Disney can change the lineup or operating hours without much notice.
Mickey Mouse Has a Dedicated Meet-and-Greet
If meeting Mickey is a priority, Shanghai Disneyland currently has a dedicated Meet Mickey at the Gardens of Imagination character experience.
Because Mickey has his own listed greeting rather than relying entirely on random appearances, this is one of the easier character experiences to build into a park plan.
I would still check the official app before walking over. Character hours can differ from the park’s overall operating hours.
Duffy and Friends Are a Much Bigger Deal in Shanghai
If you mainly know the U.S. Disney parks, the popularity of Duffy and Friends can be one of the biggest surprises at Shanghai Disneyland.
The full Duffy and Friends group includes:
- Duffy;
- ShellieMay;
- Gelatoni;
- StellaLou;
- CookieAnn;
- ‘Olu Mel; and
- LinaBell.
Shanghai Disney currently has a Meet Duffy and Friends on Mickey Avenue experience, while LinaBell also has her own greeting at Friendship Point in Adventure Isle.
LinaBell has a particularly strong connection with Shanghai Disneyland because she made her global debut at Shanghai Disney Resort in 2021.
Shanghai Disney also frequently builds seasonal entertainment and merchandise around the Duffy characters, so their presence can extend well beyond a normal photo line.
You Can Meet Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in Zootopia
Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde currently have a dedicated greeting inside Zootopia.
The official experience is located at the Zootopia Police Department Recruitment Center.
This is one of the character experiences I would prioritize if you want something specifically connected to Shanghai Disneyland rather than characters that are common throughout Disney parks.
Zootopia itself also uses its characters throughout the land’s entertainment and environmental storytelling, so Judy and Nick are not confined to the feeling of a generic character-photo location.

Which Disney Princesses Can You Meet?
Shanghai Disneyland currently offers Meet Disney Royalty at Enchanted Storybook Castle in Fantasyland.
The important wording is “Disney Royalty.” Disney does not promise one fixed princess lineup on the current attraction page.
I would therefore check the day’s app listing if meeting one particular princess is important rather than assuming Cinderella, Belle, Snow White or another character will definitely be appearing.
Can You Meet Mulan at Shanghai Disneyland?
Mulan has appeared at Shanghai Disneyland, and I met her during a scheduled appearance on one of my visits.
However, I would not currently plan a trip around a guaranteed standalone Mulan meet-and-greet.
Shanghai Disney’s current official character directory does not list a dedicated Mulan greeting. Princesses and entertainment lineups can rotate, so check the app on your visit date if she is the character you most want to see.
Marvel Characters Are Currently Part of the Lineup
Marvel has a more substantial current character presence than the older version of this guide suggested.
Shanghai Disney currently lists:
- Meet Spider-Man at the Marvel Universe;
- Heroic Encounter at the Marvel Universe; and
- Avengers’ Patrol in Tomorrowland.
Exactly which heroes appear in rotating entertainment can vary, so I would not promise Iron Man, Captain Marvel or another specific Avenger unless Disney lists that character for your date.
Winnie the Pooh Characters Are in Fantasyland
Shanghai Disney currently lists Meet a Friend from the Hundred Acre Wood as a Fantasyland character experience.
Winnie the Pooh is currently associated with the experience, but the broader wording gives Disney flexibility over the character appearing.
This area is also home to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Hunny Pot Spin, so Pooh fans can combine the greeting with both attractions.

Toy Story Characters Have Their Own Meeting Spot
Toy Story Land currently has Meet Your Favorite Toys at The Meeting Post.
Disney deliberately uses a rotating description rather than guaranteeing one exact Toy Story character at all times.
If Toy Story characters matter to you, check the app once you are inside the park to see the day’s character and operating hours.
Lilo & Stitch and Pixar Characters Are in Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland currently has two other rotating character experiences worth knowing about:
- Meet the Friends from Lilo & Stitch at Galaxy Gathering; and
- Meet Pixar Characters at Tomorrowland.
Again, I would use Disney’s app for the actual character lineup rather than assuming a particular Pixar character will be appearing.
Jack Sparrow Appears in Treasure Cove
Treasure Cove currently has a dedicated Meet Jack Sparrow at the Sparrow’s Nest character experience.
That makes him one of the more thematically appropriate characters to work into the day because you can combine the greeting with Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure and the rest of Treasure Cove.
Where Are Most Shanghai Disneyland Characters?
There is no single character area containing everyone. Character experiences are spread throughout the park.
- Mickey Avenue: Duffy and Friends, Goofy and friends, plus changing entertainment.
- Gardens of Imagination: Mickey and Marvel experiences.
- Fantasyland: Disney royalty, Minnie and friends, Donald and friends, and a Hundred Acre Wood character.
- Adventure Isle: LinaBell, Chip & Dale and characters from Up.
- Zootopia: Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
- Tomorrowland: Marvel, Pixar and Lilo & Stitch character experiences.
- Toy Story Land: Toy Story characters.
- Treasure Cove: Jack Sparrow.
This spread actually makes character meetings easier to combine with the attractions you are already planning to experience rather than repeatedly returning to one central location.
Do Characters Appear in Shanghai Disneyland Shows and Parades?
Character sightings are not limited to formal meet-and-greets.
Mickey’s Storybook Express includes classic Disney and Pixar characters, while Shanghai Disney also changes its seasonal entertainment throughout the year.
Duffy and Friends are especially prominent in seasonal celebrations, and the park’s current entertainment lineup can add characters who are not operating a traditional photo queue that day.
That is why I would look at both the Characters and Entertainment sections of the official app.
Character Schedules Change During the Day
I would not publish fixed character hours in a planning guide because Disney changes them too frequently.
Some greetings may run through much of the day while others operate only during shorter windows. Outdoor experiences can also be affected by heat, rain and other operating conditions.
Shanghai Disney’s own character pages direct guests to the official mobile app for the next available showtimes.
Before getting into a long attraction queue, I would check whether a character you care about has a limited appearance window that is about to end.
How I Would Prioritize Characters on a One-Day Visit
If I only had one day, I would not try to meet every character in the park.
I would choose the characters that make Shanghai Disneyland feel different from my other Disney trips.
For me, that would mean checking Judy and Nick, Duffy and Friends or LinaBell first, then adding Mickey, Disney royalty or another favorite if the schedule fits naturally into the day.
If you have two days, it becomes much easier to let character greetings fill gaps between rides instead of making them compete with every major attraction.

Check the Official Character List on Your Park Day
The most useful thing I can tell you about Shanghai Disneyland characters is not to treat any online character list as permanent.
Disney currently has a substantial lineup of scheduled character experiences, but individual characters, operating hours and seasonal appearances can change.
Use the official Shanghai Disney Resort character directory before your visit, then check the official app again after entering the park.
