Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel offer very different Disney stays. Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the more elegant, full-service resort with Victorian styling, indoor and outdoor pools and more upscale dining. Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is the more casual Art Deco option with refreshed Disney storytelling, a piano-shaped pool and waterslide, and generally lower room rates.
There is one major issue for upcoming trips: Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will temporarily close in its entirety beginning October 12, 2026 for comprehensive enhancements. Disney’s Hollywood Hotel will remain open, and Disney has not announced a reopening date for the Disneyland Hotel.
If your stay falls after that closure date, this comparison becomes simple for the time being: Hollywood Hotel is the only one of these two available to book.

The Biggest Difference Is the Overall Experience
The clearest difference between these hotels is not distance from the Park or access to Disney transportation. It is what you want the hotel itself to feel like.
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is designed as a destination resort. The six-story Victorian-style property has landscaped grounds, live music in the lobby and a more traditional luxury-hotel atmosphere.
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is much more casual. Disney has reimagined the property around the art of Disney filmmaking, combining Art Deco architecture with artwork, movie references, vintage cars and gallery-style spaces.
I found the Disneyland Hotel better suited to slowing down and spending time at the resort. Hollywood Hotel makes more sense when the hotel is primarily your base between Park days but you still want strong Disney theming.
Rooms: Disneyland Hotel Feels More Upscale
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has 400 rooms and suites, ranging from standard accommodations to Sea View rooms, Kingdom Club rooms and Disney-themed Kingdom Suites.
The rooms follow the same traditional Victorian character as the rest of the hotel. During my stay, the property felt noticeably more formal and spacious than Hollywood Hotel.
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel has 600 rooms. Its accommodations are more streamlined, with Disney artwork and movie-inspired design carrying through the property.
I would not pay a premium for Disneyland Hotel simply because you assume both rooms provide essentially the same experience. The difference is noticeable. The Disneyland Hotel is the better fit if the room and resort atmosphere are important parts of the vacation; Hollywood Hotel is easier to justify if most of your waking hours will be spent in the Park.

Which Hotel Has the Better Pool?
The pool comparison is more interesting than you might expect.
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has both indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, which gives it an advantage if you value variety or want an indoor option.
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel has the more playful pool. Its grand-piano-shaped outdoor pool has zero-depth entry and a 28-meter-long twisting waterslide.
For adults looking for a quieter resort experience, I prefer the Disneyland Hotel setup. For families with children who will actually use the slide, Hollywood Hotel has a very strong case.
Dining Is a Major Difference
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has the more extensive dining lineup.
Options include Enchanted Garden Restaurant for buffet dining with Disney character appearances, Crystal Lotus for Chinese cuisine, Walt’s Cafe and the Grand Salon.
This gives the hotel more appeal if dining is part of the resort experience rather than simply something you fit around your Park schedule.
Hollywood Hotel’s dining has changed considerably in recent years. One of its most distinctive current venues is The Archivist, an Art Deco lounge filled with artifacts and references inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The hotel also offers other dining options including Ink & Plate. Overall, I would still give Disneyland Hotel the advantage for breadth and traditional resort dining, while Hollywood Hotel’s newer venues have considerably more personality than the property once had.
Which Hotel Is Cheaper?
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is generally the lower-priced of these two hotels.
I would not use a fixed nightly price to compare them because Hong Kong Disneyland hotel rates change by date, room category, demand and promotion.
Disney regularly runs advance-purchase, multi-night and other hotel offers. The relative positioning is more useful than a single advertised price: Hollywood Hotel normally occupies the lower end of the Disney hotel range, while Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is positioned as the more upscale property.

Is Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Closer to the Park?
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is more convenient if you specifically want the option to walk between your hotel and the Park.
During my stay, I found the walk from the Disneyland Hotel straightforward and pleasant. Hollywood Hotel is farther around the resort, so I would be more inclined to use Disney’s complimentary transportation from there.
Both properties are still inside Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, so I would not choose between them primarily based on commute time. The difference in atmosphere, amenities and price matters more.

Do Both Hotels Include Early Park Entry?
Do not assume Early Park Entry is automatically included with every reservation at either hotel.
Hong Kong Disneyland periodically offers complimentary Early Park Entry Passes through specific hotel promotions. Those offers have their own booking dates, stay dates and eligibility requirements.
For example, Disney has offered complimentary Early Park Entry with certain official-channel hotel bookings during designated 2026 dates, but that does not make Early Entry a permanent standard benefit of either property.

What Perks Do Both Disney Hotels Share?
Both hotels still provide the advantages of staying inside Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
- Complimentary transportation within the Disney resort
- Access to hotel recreational activities, subject to current schedules
- Disney theming and character experiences around the resort
- Convenient access to the designated Park entrance for Disney hotel guests
- Access to dining and recreation across the Disney resort hotels, subject to operating conditions
The important distinction is that specific promotional benefits can change. I would not choose one hotel based on an old list of supposed permanent perks without checking the booking offer for your dates.
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Is the More Relaxing Choice
If I were choosing purely on the resort experience, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has the stronger appeal for me.
The Victorian design, landscaped grounds, broader dining selection, indoor pool and quieter overall feel make it somewhere I would deliberately spend time away from the Park.
That makes the higher price easier to justify for a special trip, couples, adults or anyone planning downtime at the hotel.
The obvious limitation is its upcoming closure. For stays beginning October 12, 2026 and until Disney announces that the property has reopened, this option is unavailable.
Hollywood Hotel Makes More Sense When Value Matters
Disney’s Hollywood Hotel makes the stronger case when you want the convenience of staying at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort without paying for amenities you are unlikely to use.
Its Art Deco design has been refreshed, the Piano Pool and waterslide are particularly appealing for families, and newer dining concepts give the hotel more character than its old reputation as simply Disney’s basic hotel suggests.
It is also the practical winner between these two properties during the Disneyland Hotel closure because it will remain fully operational.
What About Disney Explorers Lodge?
There is a third official hotel at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and I would not ignore it simply because you’re currently comparing these two.
Disney Explorers Lodge sits between them in a number of ways, combining substantial resort theming with a more relaxed atmosphere than Disneyland Hotel.

Which One Would I Book?
Before the October 12, 2026 closure, I would choose Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel when the hotel itself is an important part of the vacation. Its atmosphere, dining and recreation provide a more complete resort experience.
I would choose Disney’s Hollywood Hotel when price matters more, when traveling with children who will use the pool and waterslide, or when most of the day will be spent inside Hong Kong Disneyland.
For stays during the Disneyland Hotel renovation, Hollywood Hotel is the only one of these two available, so compare it with Disney Explorers Lodge rather than waiting for an unannounced reopening date.
If your dates are flexible enough that both hotels are available, the decision is less about which property is objectively better and more about whether you want a quieter upscale resort or a lower-priced, more casual Disney hotel.
